poll results: your must-see movies of Summer 2009

Thanks to all who voted for their must see movies of the summer. I'll be making one for the Fall/Winter season (with New Moon, Where the Wild Things Are, etc.), so stay tuned for that!

The results are as follows:

Star Trek (13)
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (12)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (11)
Night At The Museum 2: Battle Of The Smithsonian (8)
Up (7)
Other (6)
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (4)
Terminator Salvation (4)
Year One (4)
G.I. Joe (3)
Land of the Lost (1)

I'm a little miffed that I'd forgotten to add Angels & Demons to the list. It was an accident.

I've had to update my list with an unexpected new release (already viewed movies are marked):
1. Star Trek
2. Angels & Demons
3. My Life in Ruins
4. Year One
5. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
6. Up
7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
8. Terminator Salvation

Thanks again for participating, and enjoy your nights at the movie!

  1. I can't wait to see star trek.

  2. @Su:
oh, you must see it in the theatre... the effects are spectacular! I'm bringing Lam to see it again... second time for both of us. Roomie's seen it twice, and he thinks that's enough. :)

  3. I saw Up. Which wasn't even on my original list because I knew nothing about it. But everyone should go see Up. Because it's that awesome. And I am adding Hangover to the list b/c apparently it's laugh out loud funny and who couldn't use a few laughs? In fact, I might see it tonight. And then Taking of Pelham 123 opens on Friday (I'm so there) and My Sister's Keeper on Tuesday (so there) and that's half my list already. And yes - before you decide to get stabby on me - I will figure out how to work in Star Trek too. Just because you said I should go and you are awesome so yes - I will go. Just for you Nen. Just for you.

  4. @Country Girl:
Okay, I'll add Hangover to my list. I can look at Brad Cooper for 2+ hours. :)
But Pelham 123 would just make me feel sad, seeing John Travolta and feeling bad for him. Not sure if I'll see that.
I'll never ever get stabby with you, girlfriend, but I do think you'll enjoy Star Trek. It's just non-stop action. My only complaint is the implication that Spock is the same age as Kirk, which he's not. He was 70 when he joined the crew of the Enterprise. Gah! I'm such a nerd!
I also didn't appreciate seeing Kirk's every pore during his close-ups. Okay, I'll stop complaining now. :)

  5. Emmer-Effer! I just deleted my entire comment. And it was life-altering too...

Let me know when you're seeing any of these. Maybe I'll be able to go. Esp if you'd like to see ST again! I'm not motivated to do anything about seeing movies, but if someone lights a fire under my butt...

(I thought My Life In Ruins was a sit-com for next fall? Pay attention, Harmzie)

  6. @Harmzie:
Okay, I'll give you a shout. At least you'd heard about My Life in Ruins, I hadn't until I saw the trailer last week!

Sorry 'bout the demise of your life-altering comment... we are all lesser people for having missed it. Serious.
Blogger can be such a shit for doing stuff like that.

  7. I think My Life In Ruins was written up in the paper last week. I didn't read it, I'd just assumed TV for some reason.

I've had comments eaten, double posted, and disappear into the vapours only to reappear hours later and be all 'what? I was here all along!"

This time, I just did a reflexive close the window for some reason. All me. I guess my complaint is that there was no "are you sure?" but I HAD that the time (way back) when I deleted my entire C: drive and the warning didn't help ("of course I'm sure, stupid compu-- aaaaaaaa")
