Hey, look, I made the list of super kick ass Canadian Moms! I know, awesome, eh?!

Now, before you head over there and check out my fellow kick ass moms, I present evidence of my (and my daughter's) kick-ass-ness. Last night, we did some pink hair dye magic, and now we look like rock stars! The pictures don't do 'em justice, but it's better than nothin'!

Check it...

things I've been doing lately -- yes, it includes Shredding. sheesh.

Gong Hei Fat Choi!

I'm sorry it's a day late, but I've been busy, so my welcoming of The Tiger has had to wait.

"Why, Nenette? Why have you been so dang busy?!"

Well, I'll tell you. She's going to tell, she's going to tell, she's going to tell, she's going to tell...

1: Writing a new Canada Moms Blog post! Please head over, read "Because Everyday is Valentine's Day", and leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you!

2: Tw-Olympic-ing (meaning tweeting the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver from my bed). My favourite tweets of the night:

- dude running beside Wayne's truck: "Hey, Wayne, come back with that splif, man!" #nenetteshypotheticals

3: Caring for a sick kid. Yeah, my son's sick again. Fever on Friday night. Sniffles the next day on. Good thing it's a long weekend.

4: Trying to keep myself healthy. Different from the boy's illness. No fever or sniffles. Something more complicated. Fatigue, foggy-mindedness, poor/disturbed sleep, unable to handle stress (and I've had A LOT over the past 7+ years, maybe I'll blog about it sometime... not sure though -- it's heavy stuff), weird menstrual stuff, frequent flu/colds, and more. I'd go into more detail, but I'd be treading pretty damn close to TMI territory.
Anyway, I suspect adrenal fatigue. Will visit my health care professional soon to confirm.

5: Not changing despite all the borking Shredding. When I did the Shred everyday, I started to feel unwell as time went on. I became slow to recover from workouts. And I didn't lose any inches or weight. So, I cut my Shreds down to 3 times a week, with weights in between. I think the problem has something to do with that adrenal thing I was talking about in #4.

6: Moving bread around. Thanks to all who told me about their bread storing stories. I pitched my bread box... See?

And I put my bread in a "Carb Drawer" with the tortillas, rice and quinoa. See the ice cream bucket? That's my rice. Oh, and I only touch the quinoa...

7: Watching old videos. To pitch, of course. It's Box 2 of 2. Why the hell did I tape the episode of Oprah talking about her thighs?

So, what've YOU been up to?

redesign: just doing what the voices tell me to.

My blog design had been bugging me for a good long time.

You know how it is. Images were loading slowly, widgets and doodads were all bunchy, and it was looking a might too cluttered for my minimalist tastes.

"Your blog looks like ass!" the voices in my head were telling me. Not a good thing as "ass" is the total opposite of "badass", which is the pinnacle of awesomenessness... ness.

Besides, you know things suck when the word "bunchy" is used to describe it.

So, after stumbling onto some other blogs that did the whole "white space" thing like superheros, CSSing my ass off the whole afternoon, then almost totally borking the template at one point, I finally got my template where I want it!

Do you like?! And don't let my superfragile ego influence you in any way, shape or form.

Update: As you can see the header title still needs fixing, plus I still have to replace the Related Posts feature with something new. Stay tuned for that.

To refresh all of your memories, it used to look like this...

Oh, and to show that I'm a programming machine, the original template was...

I know, I rock. :)

anAL BUM cover.

Go forth, he doth say, go forth and make an album cover.

So, I did. Here's how...

1: Go to the "Random Article" link on Wikipedia. Write down the title of the article. This is the name of your band.

2: Go to “Random Quotations” and the last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3: Go to Flickr and click on “Explore the Last Seven Days”. The third picture will be your album cover. (For this step, I used Ren's idea of the Creative Commons link instead, because let's face it, you can take the girl out of the Catholic all-girls' school, but you can't take the Catholic all-girls' school out of the girl. Take that however you wish.)

Put them all together and you get:

Now, you try it!

when facebook says "jump!", I say "like this?"

Hi, I'm Nenette, and I'm a lemming. I'm a follower. I like to roll with the pack. My parents never gave me the "if everyone jumped off the bridge" speech, and I'm probably the kid who needed it the most, because, yo, if it's fun, funky and the least bit thrilling, I. Will. Do. It. Too.

So, when it was Wayback Week on Facebook and everyone changed their "profile pic to a throwback picture of yourself when you were young", I changed mine to...

I was about 6 months old in this picture, I think. Taken in the Philippines, where it's warm, tropical... and humid -- hence, the wild and crazy hair.
Seriously, if you're jonesing for the ole "bouncin' and almost-behavin'", just go to the Philippines, and you too will have more volume than you'll know what to do with.

Fast forward to last week, aka Doppelganger Week, aka Change your profile pic to the celebrity you think you look most like. And the most bizarre thing happened... I didn't do it.

Oh, yeah, the lemming totally left the building. Because I don't know who I look like.

My buddy Trinity is a ringer for Zooey Deschanel. Another one of my girlfriends looks like Defying Gravity's Christina Cox. She could totally be Marcia Brady's stunt double. And if my high school bff would grow her hair long, she could be Teri Hatcher's more exotic looking sister. At least, *I* think so.

But me? I don't know. My friends have chimed in...

1: My friend Casey said I look like Tia Carrere. And that's the moment he became one of my best friends. Because look at her. Anyone who thinks I look like this hottie is awesome in my books!

But that was way back when I still had long hair -- like this picture...

... and 20 less pounds -- not like that picture. Ech.

2: A weird girl I met through the Usenet alt.fashion group 12 years ago when I lived in Vancouver thought I looked like Marlon Brando's 3rd wife Tarita Teriipia.

The Usenet girl -- who was desperate to be my bff -- turned out to be a whack job. They always find me. But I'd like to think she had a good eye.

3: And last, but not least, according to The MyHeritage.com Application on Facebook, I also look like... Larry Bird.

Really? Larry Bird?

Who do you think I look like? And who have you been told you look like?

my husband is awesome - reason #5461.

He makes THE BEST REUBEN SANDWICHES in the world! For me. :)

See? Mine.
