are we done?

23 June 2010

You've probably heard by now that the Silicon Valley Moms Group is shutting down. As of this coming June 30, the Canada Moms Blog -- for which I've been writing since its addition to the group early last year -- and all of our sister blogs will no longer be posting new articles.

Our Big Tent forum has been a-buzz with activity -- sadness, speculation, and tributes have been shared. By our US sisters.
However, other than this post by Jessica and some whisperings on our own small Canadian forum, I, and my fellow Canadian writers, have been silent. Why? I can only speak for myself when I say that I'm still rather numb with shock.

What can I say about the group that...

- was such a big part of my writing life for the past year.

- gave me the respect for my abilities I so craved.

- connected me with some of the most talented, brilliant, colourful, friendly, and lovable women in the blogosphere.

- challenged me and helped me hone my writing chops.

- helped me showcase my writing by selecting 3 of my 10 posts (this, this, and this) for national syndication.

- and more...

I'm hoping this isn't truly the end. I'm hearing all sorts of unofficial buzz. The possibilities are endless. We'll see.

In the meantime, we've been given the okay to move our posts to our own blogs, so I'll be doing that over the next few days. If you want to enjoy the awesomeness that is Nenette all over again, head over to the Canada Moms Blog category.

Sadly it looks like blogland is slowly being dismantled around us - a bit like Neverending Story...

Aww, that's too bad - I'd heard good things about that group.

No, we're not done. We're regrouping. We have to - I'm not done yet, and neither are you!

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear this Nenette. Seems to be going around the blogosphere like a disease the past year or two. I know it's difficult to be positive in such uncertain times, but I truly believe that when one door closes another opens. Whatever is next for your writing adventures, I hope that the transition will be smooth for you and know you will land on your feet. Hang in there!
